David, I rarely agree with you so much. Your comment on the referenced blog was on point. What a strange culture that would arm its members with such a limited set of capacities, leaving so little redundancy. What if the specialist fails? What if one doesn't have access to the appropriate specialist? How terribly inconvenient to always need to go looking for a specialized consultant! Not to mention the simple but irreplaceable satisfaction of doing something yourself, or at least, playing a tangible role in your own survival and welfare. Of course, the critics will come and say "fine! Make your own ______! see how well you do without specialists then!" and do you know what i say to them? No, really, do you? Cuz I don't.
